The White House said in response to a report that US Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Millie had secretly contacted his Chinese counterpart at the end of Donald Trump's presidency. Joe Biden has full confidence in Millie.

Millie's spokesman also said the contacts were in line with his duties to ensure strategic stability.
